Directions: Write a response to the question below. Your response should be well written with proper sentence structure, capitalization and punctuation. The minimum length of your response is one paragraph.

Lesson 1-1
: Marketing is often misunderstood as only advertising or selling. Using evidence from the textbook and video explanations, explain why this view is incomplete. In your response, define marketing, describe how multiple marketing functions work together to create satisfying exchange relationships, and analyze why understanding customer needs is essential for business success across different types of organizations (for-profit and nonprofit).

Lesson 1-2: How did Marketing develop as a part of business? Bring us through all of the steps throughout human history (bartering, specialization of labor, development of money systems) and then define what marketing is today.

Lesson 1-3 Question 1.) In a well-organized paragraph, explain the marketing concept and why it is important for business success. Be sure to describe how focusing on customer needs can impact a company’s products, pricing, and profitability.
Extra Credit: Support your response with at least one real-world example of a business that uses the marketing concept effectively.

Lesson 1-3 Question 2.) In one well-organized paragraph, explain what the marketing mix is and identify its four elements. Then describe how a business uses the marketing mix to satisfy customer needs and achieve profitability.

Lessons 1-4: Compare the world in 1900 versus present day? How is infrastructure different? How is technology different? How are people different and what societal values have changed? How do all of these changes effect marketing?

Lesson 1-5: Explain how and why the traditional Four P’s of Marketing (Product, Price, Place, and Promotion) have evolved over time. In your response, discuss why “Place” became “Distribution,” how technology and consumer behavior influenced this change, and whether you believe additional “P’s” should be added in the future.

Lesson 1-6: Explain the major reasons why traffic in American shopping malls has declined in the 21st century. In your response, discuss the impact of e-commerce, changing consumer preferences, economic challenges, and technological advancements.

Lesson 1-7: Explain how the Metaverse differs from the traditional internet and analyze its potential impact on everyday life. In your response, discuss immersive technology (VR/AR), digital ownership (NFTs), augmented reality glasses, and privacy or ethical concerns. Use specific examples from the lesson to support your answer.

Lesson 1-8: Walk me through each step of the affiliate marketing process. Then, explain what an "influencer" is and how influencers drive marketing today.

Lesson 1-9: What are the dangers of devices like Amazon Alexa that collect data? How can a person's data be harmful to them? How do you feel about devices that collect your voice and data?
