About This Lesson: This lesson introduces students to the importance of networking as a tool for career research and future employment opportunities. Students learn that networking is not limited to formal events or job fairs, but also includes building genuine relationships with friends, family, teachers, mentors, neighbors, classmates, and community members. Through note-taking, discussion, and reflection, students explore practical networking strategies such as joining organizations, taking classes, checking in with contacts, sending professional messages, and strengthening existing connections. By the end of the lesson, students will understand how networking can help them learn about specific careers, gain referrals, and take meaningful steps toward their future career goals.
