Classified Ads

Lesson 19: Classified Ads

About This Lesson: This lesson introduces students to the job search process, emphasizing the importance of being proactive, prepared, and informed when seeking employment opportunities. It explores how job searching has evolved from traditional newspaper classified ads to modern online platforms, while highlighting the original purpose of classified ads—to connect local employers with local job seekers. Students will learn where to find job listings today, including newspapers, community bulletin boards, and localized websites like Craigslist, and will begin to understand how to navigate and interpret these postings. The lesson also sets the foundation for developing the skill of reading and decoding classified ads, an essential step in identifying and securing job opportunities.
